Canaima National Park

The Camp Arekuna is located in the Great Savanna, to the north of the National Park Canaima. Their facilities are in a small hill to a hundred meters of the beach of the river Caroní. It is surrounded of gallery forests that run along the river Antabares Mizo, which Caroní ends in the river, and of the savannas Guianese typical Orinoco of the Solid one. In this territory the Indian Pemones of the tribe lives Arekuna. To few kilometers of the camp there are small communities of Pemones that you live off the hunt, the fishing, the conuco agriculture, the gathering of fruits and the factory of craft. From the sights view of Arekuna one can enjoy the magnificent landscape of the sacred mountains of the called Pemones Tepuyes. These imposing rocky formations are the oldest in the world, for what you/they have acquired their characteristic aspect caused by the continuous erosion during millions of years. For this reason the ecosystems that there are they are only and the exceptional landscapes.

Facilities:
The Camp has thirty rooms with private bathroom, prepared in ten houses located around a small hill. The occupation of these rooms can be double or triple. They are also equipped with a hammock, that which allows that a fourth person occupies them. The social areas include a restaurant-bar in the summit of the hill and a reception center located in the vicinity of the landing hint. From the rooms, thanks to their wide big windows, you can appreciate the Caroní River. The Camp was built taking into account the conservation of the environment and integrating its architectural design to the surrounding landscape. The distribution of their facilities and the reduced number of rooms guarantee a demurrage in an exclusive atmosphere and chord with the natural character of this area, providing the guest the comforts and attentions of one of the best camps in the country.

Trips:
From the Camp they can be carried out different trips to the surroundings and depending on the climate, groups and disposition can be carried out other activities:

Travel to Canaima (Easy): This trip is carried out the first day of the program before arriving to the Camp Arekuna. After 2 hours of flight and to fly over the Salto Angel, it will arrive to the Camp Canaima where you will be waiting for a jeep to take you to the Lagoon of Canaima where you will make a walk visiting some of the water fall in her from the river Carrao, of there it will undertake a walk toward the Fall El Sapo, where you will be able to observe part of the flora and fauna of this National Park. After the lunch you will take the flight going to Arekuna (10 minutes).
Walk over for the forest (Easy): Walk early in the morning or at the end of the afternoon, for a path that leaves the camp and goes to the river Antabares. During the journey you will be able to see and to listen a variety of typical animal species of the area; parakeets, guacamayas, toucans, as well as different monkeys. The trip will take you near forty-five minutes, for what we recommend you to leave maximum one hour before the setting of the sun in the afternoon.
Walk over to the hill (Moderate): Walk until the one collides of a small hill, to enjoy the beautiful views of the tepuyes, forest and savannas.
Take out in a bongo to the Fall Las Babas (Easy): Navigating waters below for the Caroní finds the Fall Las Babas, the one, which short to the entire wide one, the river. After disembarking a walk it begins with stopped in different sights view to enjoy the imposing visual and auditory show that you/they produce the successive falls of water along 2kms. In a small eddy of the river there is a spectacular beach of white sands taken a bath by the reddish typical waters of the area. After a refreshing bathroom and to take the sun the return begins with another path that skirts the Caroní. During the months of drought and because it lowers the level of the water of the river, you will be able to appreciate during the journey the carved "petroglyphs" that date of the time Pre-of Christopher Columbus.
Trip to the Nonoy (Moderate): After a sailing of approximately 20 minutes for the river Caroní, will find to its left margin, the tepuy Nonoy. There it will undertake a walk of approximately 40 minutes, crossing savannas, forests and morichales, until arriving to the hillsides of the tepuy. There you will find a canyon inside which comes off the Salto Nonoy Merú. The puddles that are in the base of this waterfall are ideal to take a bathroom and to rest in their banks. (This alone trip will be able to be carried out in the months of rain; of half-filled June to November).

Useful information of the camp Arekuna
Climate: Tropical Humid. Dry time of December to May, rainy season of June to November.
Temperature: It oscillates between 26º and 28º C and in the night 16º C. can arrive Electricity: 110 V.
Access: by plane from Porlamar.
Menu: Breakfasts, lunches and dinners type buffet, based on international food and typical plates of the region.
Itineraries: Porlamar-Arekuna 09:00 Arekuna-Porlamar 15:00 (1:40 hrs flight)
Facilities: 30 triple rooms with bathroom deprived in 10 cabins
